Bank financing for foreigners is difficult in Thailand, unless the foreigner has assets in Thailand to use as collateral. Thai banks are quite conservative in their lending practices, and to date, will not make unsecured loans to foreigners.

It may be possible to get a mortgage from a Thai bank if you own a Thai company, or work for a Thai company with a work permit and have a Thai spouse: as this can be a fairly complex process, please contact us in order to discuss your individual situation.

Some countries’ financial institutions also lend to their citizens to buy property abroad; so another option would be for you to check the situation in your home country and see whether an overseas mortgage would be available to you.
